West Central School Board Signs 12 month lease for Drivers' Ed Car
At the West Central C.U.S.D. #235 board meeting on February 16th, the board approved the 12-month lease of a 2018 Chevy Cruze LT (Driver Education car) from Bruce Foote Chevrolet of Monmouth in the amount of $150 per month with two payments of $900 at six month intervals as presented.
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by President Schaley leading in the Pledge of Allegiance.
All board members were present at roll call except Mike Lenahan and Steve Lumbeck. Also present were the following: Superintendent Paula Markey; Nancy Clark, West Central Board Secretary; Kathy Lafary, West Central Elementary School Principal; Joe Peters, West Central Middle School Principal; Jason Kirby, West Central High School Principal; Joel Zaiser, West Central High School Assistant Principal/Athletic Director; and Danna Cory, West Central Music Teacher. Also present were West Central High School Illinois State Scholars and their families.
Under Good News Items, the following was highlighted:
- Congratulations was given to Christopher Ford, Olivia Gray and Ross Vancil for being selected as Illinois State Scholars!
- WCE participated in the World Read Aloud Day (WRAD) on February 2. We had several guest readers who recorded their favorite books online to be shared with students in their classrooms.
- WCE celebrated the 100th day of school on February 1.
- A thank you was given to the Class of 1997 for their $250 donation to the West Central High School Pride fund.
- A Thank was given you to Ms. Gayle Fleming for her donation of $1,000 to the West Central High School Pride fund.
- Congratulations went to Carmen Bizarri on her recent engagement.
The board approved the agenda as presented.
There was no one present to address the board.

- directed Superintendent Markey to update the 2021-2022 Plan for Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services to reflect current practices. The board took action and approved remaining mask optional for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year.
A closed session was not held but the board took.
the following action in regard to personnel:
- approved the transfer of Carly Giese from a part-time Title I Paraprofessional to a full-time District Paraprofessional as presented, and
- approved the employment of Christina Lewis as a full-time District Paraprofessional as presented.
The next scheduled meeting will be Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the West Central Elementary cafeteria.
