Hello Folks!

Don't tell Aunt Polly, but I went to Freeland Cemetery outside Lomax to see the special service honoring Colonel Rezin Redman after finally receiving a gravestone.

I was moved to tears when Colonel Miller and Mr. Spitzer so carefully performed the flag ceremony while Mrs. Stanton read the meaning of the thirteen folds of the American flag.

I am so grateful for the brave soldiers who fought to defend that dear flag - I can think of several who lost their sons, daughters, wives, and husbands to war. A recent very moving ceremony honored U.S. Navy First Class George Franklin Price of Dallas City who was killed at Pearl Harbor and missing until recently identified and brought home for an honorable burial and closure after 81 years. It's a huge price many brave Americans paid for our freedom.

I feel bad I didn't call Aunt Polly to go with me to Freeland Cemetery. It looked so nice with flowers on each grave, birds singing...my word! It was perfect, even if the train was blaring its whistle near us, it didn't spoil the ceremony.

I am celebrating the upcoming 4th of July celebrations this weekend, and will ask Aunt Polly to go with me. We can watch the patriotic parade in Oquawka, eat delicious BBQ chicken or pork chop dinners at St Pat's Fellowship Center, stop at the Historical Society museum then watch the fireworks at Raritan July 3rd, and again on July 4th at Oquawka or La Harpe. They will be spectacular!

Tuesday's Primary Election is over and it's the perfect time to celebrate Independence Day which allowed us that freedom 246 years ago (1776-2022) thanks to so many freedom loving patriots who served.

Watching the people of Ukraine go through the struggle for freedom brings memories back of how awful it can be.

Can you imagine folks from a neighboring county driving a caravan of tanks into your town and saying they're taking over your home, everything you hold dear? Worse yet, seeing others able to help, but not helping, because they don't want to get involved? What honor is in that?

Freedom means everything, folks! It's precious and worth fighting for every day. Many in other countries look at America as their last hope for freedom.

So, Celebrate America! I am hoping to hear "I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy." Polly's favorite is "God Bless The USA."

See you at the Celebrations. Bring a flag to wave.

Good Day folks!

P.S. I suppose you want to know why Americans fight for Capitalism (an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state)?

I think this is the best way to explain the differences in the various “ISMS”:

It's simple to understand in Barnyard Bruke language using only TWO COWS...

SOCIALISM:

You have two cows. Give one cow to your neighbor.

COMMUNISM:

You have two cows. Give both cows to the government and they may give you some milk.

FASCISM:

You have two cows. You give all of the milk to the government and the government sells it.

NAZISM:

You have two cows. You government shoots you and takes both cows.

ANARCHISM:

You have two cows. Keep both cows, shoot the government agent and steal another cow.

CAPITALISM:

You have two cows.

Sell one, buy a bull.
