Two candidates running on the Republican ticket in the upcoming June 28th Primary Election, accepted an invitation by the Henderson County Republican Committee to attend a public forum to answer questions from the committee about their candidacy for Henderson County Sheriff. The Committee's Questions were:

  1. Give me your definition of a Conservative Republican and how will that apply to your job as Henderson County Sheriff?
  2. What are your plans to ensure that a jail is retained in Henderson County?
  3. As Henderson County Sheriff, what number of hours do you plan to actively "police" our county?"
  4. What number of deputies do you think are needed and why?
  5. How do you plan to limit part-time use of jailers and deputies to reduce over-time pay?
  6. What would you require as a "level of standard" for all employed by the Henderson County sheriff's Department?
  7. 7. How do you plan to apply the "Rule of Law" indiscriminately for all breaking the law in our county?

Questions fielded from the audience were also asked by Knupp including: "Who will be your Chief Deputy?" They were asked about their working relationship with the State Police, their plans for protecting school children, etc.

The respect candidates shown for the other, and fairness of moderator Bill Knupp in asking questions was appreciated. -

Matt Link and Arbry Vancil, two former high school classmates who grew up in Henderson County are vying for the Republican spot on the General Election ballot in November. It will be decided at June the 28th Primary.

Republican moderator Bill Knupp thanks the candidates for participating and wishes them both luck in the upcoming Primary Election June 28th.

Around fifty residents attended the Henderson County Republican forum put on by the county's Republican Central Committee. The event was held at "The Barn" event venue outside of Biggsville and began with the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag.
