Sheriff's Department Asks Owners of Landline Telephones, To Not Ignore Incoming 911 Test Calls from (217) 357-****

911 To Be Implemented Soon In Henderson County

Please, do not ignore phone calls on your land-line in the upcoming weeks if they are coming from Carthage, Illinois and begin with 217-357-****, as it may be the 911 test call coming into your home phone.

According to Henderson County Chief Deputy Matt Link, the Hancock/Henderson 911 dispatch team will soon begin testing for the new 911 system which is being implemented and managed through the Hancock County Sheriff's office in Carthage.

The Hancock County 911 dispatchers at the Carthage Sheriff's office/jail, will be calling citizens and businesses in Henderson County who have landline telephones to complete address confirmations. They will do this by giving you a 10-digit telephone number to call them back on. The call back number will begin with 309-944-****.

This will ring into the 911 emergency dispatch center, where they will check to see if the caller’s information will populate correctly in their software. This will allow them to confirm that the information is correct.

"Please do not dismiss this important call as being a telemarketer or spam," Chief Deputy Link said.

"Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and it will enable us to have the new 911 system fully operational soon after the testing is completed."

Again, the number that will show up on Henderson County landline caller-IDs will begin with the Carthage area code and prefix numbers of (217) 357 followed by four more numbers. Your cell phones will not be receiving this verification call.

From left, Henderson County Dispatcher Troy Jern and Chief Deputy Matt Link check the landline phones at the Henderson County Sheriff's office in preparation for the 911-System to be implemented soon in Henderson County.
