Last week the Illini West Varsity Chargers girls put up two more wins.
On February 7th, the Illini West girls traveled to Macomb and came away with a 55-27 victory.
Caydee Kirkham paced the Chargers with 18 points. Rylee Reed added 12 points, Reagan Reed had 8 points and Hallie Ray netted 7 points.
Stortzum led Macomb with 9 points and Daniels had 6 points. Nicholson and Ainsley Holthaus added 4 points each.
On February 9th, the Charger girls hosted Havana for their senior night game. Havana earlier in the year had beaten the Charger girls.
The first half was a close game. The Chargers led 29-22 at halftime with Caydee Kirkham tallying 14 of the 29 points.
In the 3rd quarter the Charger girls would stretch the lead to 47-33. The Chargers would end up with a 65-55 final score.
Caydee Kirkham ended the night with 28 points, Rylee Reed and Hallie Ray added 10 points each, Reagan Reed had 6 points, Abbie Johnson added 5 points, Marie DeSotel scored 4 points and Josie Bryan tallied 2 points.
The five senior girls who were playing their final home game were, #21 Marie DeSotel, #15 Hallie Ray, #23 Abbie Johnson, #4 Madi Cole, and #2 Caydee Kirkham. (See photos on back page of The Quill).
Tonight’s win put the Charger girls record for the year at 28-2.
Illini West Charger girls defeated Beardstown 47-14.
Reagan Reed scored 16 points, Caydee Kirkham scored 9, Hallie Ray and Abbie Johnson eacd added 6 points, and Rylee Reed and Madi Cole put in 4 points each, and Marie DeSotel added two to round off the scoring.
Weather permitting, the Illini West girls will play Central/Southeastern (Camp Point) on Thursday, February 17th at 7 p.m. for the Regional Championship title. The game, again, is at Camp Point.
