Take “The Quill” Along

Brad Beard of Roseville took The Quill Along when he traveled to South Dakota to help meet needs of indians on reservations living there who are among the poorest in the United States, below the poverty level of Haiti.

Brad is holding The Quill in Cherry Creek, South Dakota, Cheyenne River Reservation beside Deloris, age 66, a full-blooded Lakota Sioux Indian, one of the three prominent subcultures of the Sioux people. Delores preaches with her husband who is now very ill with cancer. She cares for him and several grandchildren during the day.

The couple just adopted three children age 4, 8, and 11 who she found living on the streets with no mother, no food and no where to sleep.

Brad is CEO and founder of his newly reorganized mission under a 501-C3 non profit he's named: Three Feathers Outreach. He acquired a 48’ moving van that is full of donated items from area churches, but needs a semi-tractor to pull it. He is attempting to purchase a used one for $40,000 but badly needs donations for the purchase and for fuel. At present, Brad makes 4 trips to empty out the large 48’ moving van with gas costing around $500 a trip using his smaller personal van. Gas for the large semi-tractor would be around $1200 a trip. He travels to three reservations in the western Dakotas: Pine Ridge Reservation, Standing Rock Reservation, and Cheyenne River Reservation.

If you can help with a donation, please call Brad Beard at 309-255-5117. He'll be preaching at the Presbyterian Church in Stronghurst on Sunday, February 20th at 10 a.m. and all are welcome to attend and visit or donate there and hear his story.

When you go on a trip, take The Quill along and have your picture taken with it and send it to us. Let’s see where all The Quill can travel.
