Illini West Varsity Girls Continue Winning Ways

Last week the Illini West Chargers Varsity Girls added three more wins to their win column for a 26-2 record.

The varsity girls had suffered just their second loss all season on January 20th against the Quincy Notre Dame girls by a scored 38-40.

Abbie Johnson and Rylee Reed each had 10 points to lead the Chargers in a hard fought game.

On January 24th, the Charger girls defeated Lewistown by a score of 49-30.

Rylee Reed with 16 points and Reagan Reed with 8 points led the Chargers. Madi Cole, Hallie Ray, and Marie DeSotel each added 6 points. Elly Krieg also had 3 points and Abbie Johnson had 2 points.

On January 27th the Charger varsity girls outscored the West Prairie girls by a 71-14 score.

Caydee Kirkham led all scorers with 22. Also for the Chargers Josie Bryan had 14 points, Rylee Reed-10 points, Reagan Reed and Allison Hunter-9 points, Madi Cole, Marie DeSotel, and Elly Krieg-2 points, and Delaina Lambert had 1 point. The game was played in La Harpe.

On January 29th the Charger varsity girls defeated Brown County by a 47-34 score.

Caydee Kirkham with 19 points and Josie Bryan with 9 points led the way. Rylee Reed chipped in 7 points, Marie DeSotel added 4 points, Reagan Reed and Abbie Johnson each added 3 points and Hallie Ray scored 2 points.

The girls game against Beardstown on Monday, January 31st was cancelled.

The Charger girls are also scheduled to play on Thursday, February 3rd, at Carthage against Havana.

The Charger girls last scheduled game is set for February 7th at Macomb.

The week of February 14th will start the IHSA post season games.

The Charger varsity girls have had a great season with their 26-2 record and winning the Lady Tiger Classic Tournament in Beardstown the last week of December and also winning the Lady Panther Classic at Camp Point earlier in January.
