Witch's Rib BBQ Is Closing December 31st

by Dessa Rodeffer, Quill Publisher/Owner

As of Dec. 31st, 2022, Jim and Glenda Thomas, rural La Harpe, will no longer be providing Witch's Rib BBQ catering or selling their wonderful smoked meats which they have provided to the area since 2013.

Jim, wanting to say "thank you" to the community and everyone around them for the wonderful community support, said, "It was a priviledge to be able to serve so many people and an honor to be asked to bring special deliveries to so many places during COVID-19 pandemic – First Responders, Police/Sheriff and Hospitals in Carthage. "I feel so priviledged we were asked to be a part of it," Jim said.

Glenda and Jim cut down from being open as a restaurant prior to the pandemic as their business blossomed into overwhelming work with meals throughout the day plus catering to many events and weddings.

While business was great, keeping help wasn't. Dominic Jones was their steady force through it all, doing all the smoking until July when he had his own dreams to pursue and left for a new job. Glenda and Jim talked and agreed it was time to close.

They sold their equipment to a man eager to take on the business near the Warren-Henderson county line and the Thomases will help them along the way.
