Henshaw Is Henderson County's Newly Appointed Interim Sheriff

Steve Henshaw, democrat of Oquawka has been sworn in as Henderson County's new sheriff to replace Henderson County Sheriff Donald Seitz.

According to Hawk Eye correspondent Bob Hansen who attended the special meeting on July 12 on behalf of The Quill, "no more than 15 seconds were spent on accepting the resignation of Henderson County Sheriff Donald Seitz, and because Sheriff Seitz was elected as a democrat, the democrats on board were given the right to recommend the appointment for his replacement. Bigger recommended Steve Henshaw and County Board Chairman Brad Flatt accepted his recommendation and appointed Steve Henshaw as Sheriff. Henshaw, a former county deputy, was running for the sheriff’s post in the slated November election, but will now fill the office from August 5 until voters choose their sheriff at the polls in November. No objections or comments were offered. Sheriff's Seitz's who wasn't at the special board meeting had made Matt Link his Chief Deputy and designee.

Judge Ray Cavanaugh offers a hand of congratulations after swearing in newly appointed Steve Henshaw to replace retiring Sheriff Don Seitz.
