23rd Annual LH Classic Car Show-Reunion is Saturday

by Dessa Rodeffer, The Quill

This Saturday is La Harpe's annual car show. It began in 1999, 23 years ago when several locals joined the La Harpe Mayor Ken Brown to have a little car show around the La Harpe City Park to honor an anniversary of Chevrolet's Z-28 Camaro and Fred Gibb's contributions to it. As the word spread, it grew in numbers and into an annual event. Brown and many locals work together putting in many hours to make this one of the premier shows. Exhibitors will arrive early Saturday and the public should arrive prior to the 10 A.M. opening ceremonies as they begin promptly. American veterans will carry in the flag to the pole and young Lacey Barrera of La Harpe will play The National Anthem on her guitar.

At 2:00 p.m. Dave Hobby will begin the auction which helps with raising funds for Veterans Honor Flights which will follow with the awards presentations, ending with Best Chevrolet, Best Ford, Best Mopar and Best Of Show. Come see the many classics and visit with their owners, thank Ken Brown, Bob Lionberger and the many many other wonderful contributors who help put on support this Classic Car show in La Harpe.
