After 15 Years of Laughter and Friendship, It's Hard to Say Goodbye

by: Chris Little - The Quill

Jodelle Eddington who manages the La Harpe Park District pool, is losing her long time sidekick, Annie Sholl. After being a fixture at the pool Annie has helped first and then worked for pay for the last 15 years.

Annie started by helping in the concession stand. She learned from the more experienced workers.  She went on to teach private and group swimming lessons.

She hasn’t missed many days from work, and she always has a smile on her face.

Kids and parents, alike, will miss her. Her favorite thing about her work has been the kids and everyone else who spent time at the pool.

She said kids see her away from the pool and run to see her. Her least favorite thing is leaving it all behind.

She has been here through Jr High, High School and College. She is training Laney Brown to take her place (if that can be done)!

Annie is graduating from college in the spring and will be an elementary school teacher, which seems to run in the family.

She and Jodelle both started at the pool in 2007.  Jodelle gave her a couple of parting gifts.

Kids grow up and move on. That’s a bittersweet time.

But elementary schools and children will be blessed to have Annie for their teacher.
