He currently resides in Oquawka, where he was born and raised and attended and graduated from Union High School.
Before his retirement he proudly served 21 years with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department as a full time certified deputy sheriff. He still holds a full time certification and works on a part time basis as deputy sheriff when needed.
He served 8 years on a part time basis with the Keithsburg Police Department.
His professional credentials include attending both Carl Sandburg College, Western Illinois University for law enforcement and the University of Illinois Police Training Institute. He is certified by both the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and the Western Illinois Police Training Unit.
Henshaw says, “I will bring common sense to the sheriff’s office. I will establish an open line of communications with the County Board of Supervisors by assuring them fiscal responsibility and being transparent with the sheriff’s department budget and expenditures.
I will personally attend the board meetings. I will assure accountability from all members of the sheriff’s department. I will work to bring the sheriff’s department and jail up to meet state standards. I plan to explore all available funding resources to collaborative opinions to assure Henderson County is a public safety leader.”
Henshaw went on to say,” If given the honor of serving as your sheriff, I promise to do my best to be the hardest working sheriff this county has seen.
Along with administrative duties I will assume as sheriff, I will see to the day to day operations while being an active sheriff. You will see me working along side my deputies doing traffic stops, answering calls for service and responding to emergency calls.
You will see me working days, nights, weekends and holidays. I will work hard to protect the great people of Henderson County and their property, as well as those passing through.
I will continue to support and strengthen the efforts taken up in traffic safety and drug enforcement to assure safe roadways and reduce drug related activities.
