Sipes Is Honored For His Quick Response Assisting Officer

Chief Deputy Matt Link hands Christopher Sipes of Oquawka, a certificate of appreciation from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office for Sipes' quick actions in assisting local law enforcement.

On Monday, March 28th, 2022 Chris and his wife were driving home from Burlington, Iowa near the Carman Road when they noticed the Gulfport Police Officer attempting to arrest a man.

The man resisted the Officer, punching him in the face, causing the Officer to slip and fall into the lane of traffic.

The man then attempted to punch the Officer several times.

Chris slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting the man. Chris then got out of his vehicle and was able to help subdue the man by bear hugging him and throwing him to the ground.

The Officer and Chris were then able to handcuff him. The man was identified as Diwyn Kalihah Presbery, age 29 of Philadelphia, PA.

Presbery was arrested for Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, Resisting a Peace Officer, Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Controlled Substance, Obstructing Identification, and Driving While License Suspended, and has a April 20 court date with bond set at $75,000.
