Is the pandemic of COVID-19 over?

Are the masks off for good?

Has the Russians stopped trying to take over the world?

Has China stopped trying to take ownership of our land, our finances and our businesses?

Are the Koreans giving up on their bombing threats?

Is Corn and bean prices up?

Are people going back to work… are they retiring?

Well, something is going on, because every event that was celebrating INDEPENDENCE DAY this weekend of the 245th anniversary of America, sold out, and had record breaking crowds. People were full of joy, delighted, full of appreciation.

Actually, the celebrating started in many village streets and neighborhoods. A few complained that the fireworks were keeping them and their pets up and alarmed at night. Others felt that yapping dogs and daytime noise was keeping them from sleeping after a night of fun and shooting off fireworks.

Some sat in their porch swings, or in their yards and watched the fireworks . But many packed the events right down to the FFA Tractor Pull, the Oquawka Parade and their fireworks, the Raritan activities and fireworks, the Henderson County Historical Society fund-raiser with record crowd, and all the many activities at the La Harpe Park District were overflowing, sold out, packed in, and extremely enjoyed.

It was much better than normal for our small towns. After 2019–2020, it was a breath of fresh air… literally… a big breath of fresh air. And seeing friends, family, and people again… well it was exciting. It's true. You don't appreciate what you have until you lose it… then get it back again. May we all thank God for America, and ask that he continues to bless us, every one.
