The Heat Football Takes Their First Loss at Amboy

Stronghurst– From a fans perspective last Saturday's 60 to 14 loss to Amboy could be summed up by the loss of at least 3 starters to injuries and bad bounces.

Sitting on the sidelines enduring the lopsided loss were starters Mason Carnes (QB,DB), Kaiden Droste (RB,DB) Zach Smith (TE,DL).

During the early stages of the game Carson Long (TE,LB) was sidelined with an injury.  All four of these injured players are a big part of the offense and defense, so at times the Heat had to operate without half of their starters.

As far as the bad bounces, the Heat were down 4 scores in the first quarter due to bad bounces on lost fumbles on 3 of the 4 first quarter onside kicks.

With the loss the Heat stand at 3 wins and 1 loss, but with this group of players, surely the best is yet to come.

This bunch of kids are not about to hang their heads and dwell on the loss to Amboy, rather, they will shake off the loss and begin working on turning things around against next week's opponent Freeport-Aquin.

Andy Lumbeck and Devin Shaw scored for  the Heat.  Colton Fletcher (60 yds) and Devin Shaw (105 yds) accounted for 160 of the Heat's 186 yards on the ground.  The passing game accounted for 86 additional yards through the air.

Parker Meldrum (16) and Colton Fletcher (8) racked up 24 tackles between them and Devin Shaw, Brady McGraw and Matthew Dunn chipped in with 11 more between the three of them.

Next Saturday (Sept. 25) the Heat travel to Freeport-Aquin for a 1 p.m. kickoff.  With an extra day to rest those injuries, look for a determined group of young men to square off against the Bulldogs.

The 3 and 1 Bulldogs are coming off a 34-26 home loss to Orangeville and they too will be out to avenge a week 4 loss.

The stage is set for a tilt important to each squad.
