Fall Festival Car Winners

By: Jeff Nichols

The 3rd annual Stronghurst Fall Festival Booster Club car show was held September 18th. Thirty-eight vehicles were on display along Broadway Street. It was a beautiful day and many visitors enjoyed the classic cars and trucks.

THE WINNERS

The 1972 Volkswagon Super Beetle owned by Eric and Peggy Chockley (pictured above), received the most votes and will be the Featured Car for next year's show.

The Chockleys purchased the car a couple of months ago in Madison, Wisconsin.

"It's a very rare car," Eric said. "The car was a Georgia car most of its life and then was restored in Chicago. It may need a little cosmetic work but I would like to keep it in its original state.

"It's a true survivor and I don't want to do too much," he added.

Other award winners are:

Randy Tinkham: Best Paint- 1967 Pontiac GTO.

Chris and Kathy Gomes: Best Engine- 1970 Chevelle SS.

Mike McNitt: Kid's Pick- 1962 Chevy BelAir.

Bill Kuepper: Veteran's Pick- 1940 Ford Coupe.

Wade and Nora Harman: Mayor's Pick- 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger.

All of those who displayed their beautiful vehicles were greatly appreciated, as well as the businesses and individuals for their donations and support.

We hope to see you next year at the Stronghurst Fall Festival car show on Sept. 17, 2022.
