Take "The Quill" Along

The Forbes family took "The Quill" along to The Half Century of Progress Show which is held every other year and coincides with the Farm Progress Show when held in Illinois. The location is at the former Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul.

The show features the display of antique tractors and farm equipment. Field demonstrations of corn picking, bean combining, plowing and disking are held on the 300 acres of crops. Also present are many vendors selling a variety of items.

One of the shows signature items is the US Flag which is displayed daily from 8 to 5. It is the largest US Flag and measures 160' by 60', weighs 300 pounds and requires 30 people to help raise and lower it.

Local attendees were, Sheila and Hugh Forbes of Media; Hayden (holding the Quill) and Jeff Forbes of Stronghurst; Kay and George Hinderer of Colchester and Donnie Carnes of Media, pictured in front of the flag.

When you go on a trip, take "The Quill" along and have your picture taken with it and send it to us. Let's see where all "The Quill" can travel.
