West Central Heat 42 and Flanigan/Woodland 40

The West Central Heat opened the 2021 season on the right foot by coming from behind and posted a narrow 42-40 win over the home team Flanigan/Woodland Falcons.

Coach Jason Kirby was extremely pleased with the results and mentioned the great play from the Offensive Line.

Also, high on his list, was the fact the kids showed great resolve.  This was the first time ever they were behind.  They were down a score, got 2 stops and 2 scores.  He was pleased that the kids worked through adversity.

Kaiden Droste, with the help of the offensive line, ran for 185 yards and 3 scores.

The 1-0 Heat will face West Prairie at home Saturday September 4th at 1:00.

The Quarterback this year is Junior Mason Carnes who came away from the Flannigan Game with a high ankle sprain.

Mason, who is following in the shoes of last year's QB brother Max Carnes, is expected to be ready for the West Prairie game and is backed up by Freshman Gage Stimpson.

Thirty-one young men make up this year's roster and will be working to add on to last Spring's team that went a perfect 5-0.  They will be facing opponents that will have the added incentive to tarnish the Heats early season ranking of No. 1.

Coach Kirby says being Number One is great.  It gives the kids and the community exposure.

Jason Kirby is the Head Coach and is assisted by Richard Clifton, Thomas Williams, Steve Arnold and Steve Lumbeck.

Providing tremendous support to the Heat are Team Managers Addy "with a Y" Link and Zairah Abbott.
