Illini West Blanks Lewistown

Last Friday night, September 3rd, the Illini West Chargers football team hosted Lewistown and got into the win column with a 34-0 score.

Illini West got on the scoreboard at 4:09 of the first quarter when Nick Manzo ran for one yard into the end zone. Extra point was no good and IW led 6-0

With 25 seconds left in the first quarter IW quarterback hooked up with Matt McDowell for a 30 yard pass and a touchdown. Extra point was no good and IW led 12-0

No one scored during the second quarter as both defenses stiffened up and held their opponents down.

In the third quarter IW running back, Ethan James, scampered for 36 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Nick Manzo ran the extra point in and IW stretched it's lead to 20-0

In the 4th quarter IW's quarterback Nick Manzo passed to Jerick LeMaire for a 27 yard touchdown. Extra point was no good, IW 26-0 lead.

With under 3 minutes to go IW's Ethan James ran from 2 yards out for their final score. James also ran the 2 point conversion in to make the final score 34-0

Illini West amassed 334 yards on offense.

Quarterback Nick Manzo connected with 16 of 23 passes for 237 yard and 2 touchdowns.

Jacob Carpenter caught 6 passes for 80 yards. Jerick LeMaire caught 2 passes for 57 yards. Matt McDowell caught 2 passes for 51 yards. Gannon Bergman and Max Dittmer each caught 2 passes for 13 and 8 yards respectively. Drake Mudd caught 1 pass for 25 yards and Ethan James caught 1 pass for 3 yards.

Illini West rushed for 97 yards. Ethan James led the pack with 15 rushes for 90 yards. Nick Manzo ran 3 times for 7 yards. Lance Belshaw ran for 3 yards and Max Dittmer ran for 1 yard.

Illini West held Lewistown to 105 total yards on offense. Lewistown had 7 pass completions out of 12 attempts for 42 yards and rushed for 63 yards.

Defense was led by Ethan James with 9 solo tackles and six assists. Lance Belshaw had 4 solo tackles and 4 assists. Drake Mudd had 3 solo tackles and 3 assists. Drew Dooley had 2 solo tackles and 5 assists. Jacob Carpenter and Jorge Espinosa each had 3 solo tackles. Brady Johnson, Jerick LeMaire, Peyton Brown, Max Dittmer, Ian Bentzinger and Thomas Chandler also contributed to the defense.

Illini West is scheduled to play Havana this coming Friday, September 10th at Havana.
