Powered by a 626 yard rushing attack the Heat got back into the winning circle by posting a 62 to 20 victory over the Galva Wildcats Saturday..
Seven backs got into the act with Kolton Bell (154), Kaiden Droste (140) and Parker Meldrum (135) each topping the century mark. Devin Shaw was close behind with 97 yards to top off a brilliant game of ground control.
Mason Carnes opened the scoring with a TD just 84 seconds into the game and Kaiden Droste added three scores as the Heat built a commanding 32 to 6 first quarter lead.
Meldrum, Shaw and Bell each scored in the 2nd quarter sending the Heat into halftime leading 54 to 6. Kolton Bell added his 2nd touchdown in the 3rd quarter and the Heat breezed home with a final score of 62 to 20.
Defensively the Heat gave up 214 rushing yards as 17 players got into the action on the defensive side of the ball with 17 solo tackles and 22 assists.
Andy Lumbeck led the Heat with 3 solos and Parker Meldrum and Kaleb Thompson each chipped in with 2. Dexter Ricketts led in assists with 4 and Parker Meldrum assisted on 3. Devin Shaw, Matthew Dunn and Walker Conchas each assisted on 2.
This Saturday, October 9th, is Homecoming and the Heat will host Martinsville. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and an enthusiastic crowd will welcome the team home after 3 weeks on the road.
