ANDREW WILLIS
Meet your ILLINI WEST teacher Andrew Willis. He is 28 years old and is from Galesburg, IL and attended Galesburg High School. While in high school, he attended Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. Afterwards, Andrew attended University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign studying Civil Engineering for four years.
Andrew also obtained two and a half years of Math Education from Western Illinois University.
Andrew teaches, Calculus, Algebra II, and Business Math. He has been teaching at Illini West for three years.
Andrew says his favorite part of teaching is, getting to know and bonding with all his students. When asked how COVID-19 has effected teaching, Andrew responded with, "I've had to reinvent how to plan, present, and assess all of my teaching material. It's worked out for the better because it's forced me to find a better, more efficient way of teaching".
In Andrew's free time he enjoys playing video games, pick-up soccer, and cooking.
Andrew Willis' advice to students is, "Student loans are no joke. If you're considering college, get your associate's degree from a community college and then transfer to a 4 year college. Live with your parents for as long as you can during your college years. You'll easily save $20,000 or more".
