Stronghurst-- Saturday, June 26th will be a busy day in the Village of Stronghurst as the Booster Club has many fun activities scheduled for the Stronghurst Veteran's Memorial Fundraiser.
The Annual Doc Pogue Memorial 5K Run/Walk starts at 8:00 a.m. at the Stronghurst Village Park with registration beginning at 7:00 a.m.
The Stronghurst Lion's Club is hosting a hot Sausage and Gravy Breakfast at the American Legion on Broadway Street in Stronghurst beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Starting at 11:00 a.m. Bounce Houses for the kids, a Bags Tournament, and a Dunk Tank will be set up in front of the MST Fire Station on Main Street.
A Silent Auction will be held at Flatt's Tire Building on Main Street from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. with winners being announced at 6:15 p.m.
Be Still Yoga will be hosting Yoga at the Park and the Henderson County Fair Queens will hold a 50/50 Drawing.
Fisher's Food will have a Cookout at their store on the corner of Broadway and Main Streets of bratwurst, hot dogs, hamburgers and rib eye steak sandwiches with free popsicles for the kids while supplies last.
A Classic Car Cruise will begin at 11:00 a.m. with registration from 9:30-10:30. The cruise is approximately 100 miles through West Central Illinois and Eastern Iowa with drive through at local nursing homes and stops at Veterans Memorials.
At 6:30 p.m. Monmouth Attorney David Reid Clark, US Marine and Vietnam Veteran, will give an opening speech before the unveiling of the Battlefield Cross Statue.
Following, will be a street dance from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. featuring Stumptown.
Stay until the end as a patriotic fireworks display will end the festivities as a thank you to our veterans and those who serve and support the USA and festivities like this.
Plan to come and bring family and friends and a lawn chair to enjoy a day of fun. Watch the weather. For now we are expected to see lots of clouds with a high of 77° and a low of 66°.
