New Sanctuary of the Terre Haute United Methodist Church To Be Dedicated Sunday

Sanctuary To Be Dedicated Sunday

by Dessa Rodeffer, Quill Publisher/Owner

The day has come for the dedication of the new sanctuary of the Terre Haute Methodist Church – on this coming Sunday, June 13th at 3:00 p.m.

Pastor Lee Unger and his congregation have invited all of you and are hoping you will come and help them celebrate and enjoy fellowship and refreshments afterwards.

It's been a long time coming for the faithful church congregation. Their first full church service in the new sanctuary was on Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2020.

The Groundbreaking ceremony had been held Sunday, May 24th, (7 months earlier) after the church was ordered closed due to COVID-19 by Illinois Governor Pritzer.

But the building of the sanctuary went on and was finished in 7 months by Roy Day Construction of Blandinsville.

The building committee was chaired by Larry Moreland (Lomax) and members were Ralph Torrance, Nate Todd, Sherry Butler and Paul Harding. To recap some of the work, there is information here from a story in February.

Ralph Torrance refurbished the hardware and the double front doors that was on the front of the former church and they were installed in the lobby at the entrance of the sanctuary.

They are the doors that welcomed members and guests in the former church from 1893-1995. The former church was demolished last year.

Come, be a part of this historic event of one of our beloved churches.
