LH Council Works To Solve Water Issues

By: Michael Rodeffer, The Quill

La Harpe Mayor Kat Hasten-Reed, in order to solve the ongoing problems with the high service water pumps in the city, called for a special meeting with herself, Council Representative Randy Shumaker, La Harpe Water Superintendent Tim Graves, La Harpe Water Employee Daniel Carpenter along with Water Plant Designer Engineer Jack Kusek and Engineer Megan Crook both of IMEG ENGINEERING, and with Chris Trotter from TROTTER CONSTRUCTION.

The group met last Thursday, July 15.

The La Harpe Mayor felt it was important to get everyone involved in the same room to discuss and come up with a solution to eliminate the vibration of the pumps.

A step-by-step plan was agreed upon by Trotter and IMEG representatives Kusek and Crook.

There are two high service pumps. The first step will be to remove one pump and have it checked and rebuilt by the manufacturer.

The pumps are mounted on a metal frame which is attached to the concrete base. If the pumps check out okay, the metal frames and then the bases will be the next items to check out or change.

Hopefully this plan will end with a positive result.
