At the December 13th meeting of the La Harpe City Council, David Clover informed members that the La Harpe Township was giving the city $500 to go towards repairs of the cannon project at the cemetery.
At December's bi-monthly meeting called to order at 7 p.m by Mayor Kat Hasten-Reed, council unanimously approved minutes, treasurer’s report and paying of bills.
David Little, street department employee, noted that 35 tons of cold patch was used this past year and that the city would probably need 40 tons for the upcoming year.
Treasurer Monalisa Graves reported that a new router would be needed in the near future.
In lieu of a Christmas dinner the council unanimously approved $30 gift cards to a local business of their choice for all city employees.
The Motor Fuel Tax Resolution was approved for the coming year.
It was discussed and noted that precise documentation would be needed for all money that was spent from the American Rescue Plan fund.
The council discussed the cemetery mowing contract for the next 2 years. The contract is for a 2-year period and packets are being put together for anyone wanting to bid on the work. An ad will appear in “The Quill” as to when bids will need to be sent in.
Council unanimously approved to cancel the second meeting in December 2021.
The council approved the purchase of a salt spreader for the big city truck for a cost of $1500 plus a delivery charge yet to be determined. Trevor Finch had found the stainless steel spreader online. It is hydraulic driven (same as the old one) but it is in Kansas so arrangements need to be made to bring it to La Harpe.
Council also discussed getting new school zone signs. Clover will look to see if any grants are available.
Council adjourned the meeting at 8:12 p.m.
