Hello folks,
Christmas gathering for the candlelight service was special in our little country church.
Friends brought friends and family and the church was packed to worship the little Lord Jesus's birthday.
Songs were sung and scripture read and then the lights were dimmed for the special song of Silent Night, Holy Night as candles were lit held by all in attendance. It is always special to hear the birth of baby Jesus retold each year. It gives a warm feeling and assurance that God is always here and Christmas will remain the same in this fast changing world.
I was invited to a special friend's on Christmas where the little ones all took part in reading of the Christmas story telling the reason that Jesus came to us.
The huge Bible lay on the podium in their living room and the little ones were eager to take their turn reading scripture from the book of Luke in Chapter 2 of the ancient story of God's gift to the world.
I felt so reassured to see children patiently putting aside the Christmas dinner and the opening of gifts to anxiously read this precious story.
Then everyone circled around and held hands to hear an uncle give a prayer for the gift of a saviour and for the bountiful food, friends and family and for eternal life.
Several friends could not come as their families were gathering at their homes, but all was thought of and I am reminded how nice it is to have small churches where we can celebrate together and pray for each other.
Christmas time is full of visiting and eating some of the best foods and it seems everyone is eager to bring food, and pitch in and help with the serving and clean-up.
I love the merriment and music, the thoughtful gifts, the laughing and giving. Someone is always surprising you.
I hope this Christmas you gained comfort and joy from the many people who helped lighten your load. May the peace and joy of Christmas stay with you throughout 2022! God Bless you and keep you! -Love, Aunt Polly
