Meet Jesus Christ The Reason for the Season!

by Dessa Rodeffer, Quill Publisher/Owner

Meet Jesus Christ, the greatest man who has ever walked the earth.... the picture painted by Illinois poet and artist Akiane Kramarik Prince of Peace at age 8 when she lived in Idaho, after a vision came to her of Christ's likeness. The photo makes a profound statement that reflects the heart of Jesus Christ – "The Gift" of Christmas, the true Reason For this marvelous Christmas Season.

Jesus was born over 2000 years ago in the little town of Bethelem in Judea. His birthday is celebrated on December 25th, although he was more likely born in the fall as the Bible in Luke 2:8 states that when Jesus was born, shepherds were keeping watch over their flocks in the fields. According to the Talmud, flocks were put out to the pasture in March and returned to pens in early November. That would make Jesus' birth sometime during late Spring, Summer, or early Fall.

God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth is Jesus' father. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, was God's only son, and born of the Virgin Mary who married Joseph, a carpenter.

Jesus learned the carpenter's trade and also learned and studied the Word of God.

He went out to teach, gathering 12 apostles to travel along with Him. Hundreds came to hear his stories and wisdom. He healed the sick, and cured the blind, and the lame walked through God's power.

Jesus fed the hungry and befriended sinners encouraging them to turn from sin and follow God's ways. He greatly suffered under Pontius Pilate and was crucified, on a wooden cross of which he was nailed to. Jesus died and was buried; and Jesus Christ our Lord, descended to the dead.

Miraculously, as He said would happen, on the third day, Jesus rose from the dead and was seen by several of His followers and disciples including "doubting Thomas" who was then convinced.

Disciples watched Jesus ascend into heaven where He is now seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From there He will judge the living and the dead.

In John 3:16 it is written: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. Christ is the best gift, the gift of hope we have all been needing.
