West Central CUSD #235 Hires New Superintendent

The Board of Education is pleased to announce the hiring of Mrs. Stacey Day as the new Superintendent of West Central C.U.S.D. #235. Mrs. Day's contract will begin July 1, 2022.

Mrs. Day has served as a High School Principal of the Mercer County School District #404 since 2014 and has also served as a High School Math Teacher for the Mercer County and Westmer School Districts. She will be replacing Mrs. Paula Markey, who will be retiring at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

The following is a statement from Mrs. Stacey Day:

"I am honored to have been chosen and to have the opportunity to lead the West Central School District. I am ready and excited to get to know the students, staff, and communities. I have heard about the great things the District has already done, and I can't wait to see what we can do together for our students throughout the District."

The West Central CUSD #235 Board of Education held an extensive interview process and gained expert insight from School Exec Connect's Ms. Diane Robertson.

Through an extensive process which included community and staff input on a "New Superintendent" profile, the Board of Education narrowed down the applicants to six finalists for interviews, and then a second round of interviews with three finalists.

In addition to the Board of Education, the West Central Administrative Leadership Team, the West Central Association of Teachers and Staff, the district office staff and community members were involved in the interview process.

"We are extremely excited for the West Central CUSD #235 students, faculty, staff and stakeholders with the hiring of Mrs. Stacey Day," said Board President Brendan Schaley.

"After an extensive search and interview process, the Board of Education's decision to hire Mrs. Day was unanimous. She fits the ‘New Superintendent Profile' perfectly and will continue the tradition of academic excellence that exists at West Central."
