Ken Brown and Bob Lionberger were up early Saturday morning along with a lot of other volunteers who annually help with the La Harpe Classic Car Show Reunion. The event, held on the La Moine Valley Golf Course in La Harpe had a field full of cars, trucks, motorcycles, hot-rods – there was plenty to look at and plenty to admire as so much sweat, money, and maybe even tears went into these well polished and cared for vehicles. People were enjoying the visiting, seeing the cars, and always a crowd along the highway to watch them leave around 4:00-5:00 p.m.. In black and white newsprint, the bright colors can't be seen that set many of these apart from the rest, but the white father and son, or maybe mother and daughter trucks in this picture shows up just fine and caught the eye of many youngsters, some who had their picture taken with it.
Many talked about their friends, others talked about their cars and others they saw, but many more mentioned the tribute made at this car show to the veterans including the money going to the Honor ?Flight.
"It's is the most beautiful show that I go to," said Ron Welch of Argyle, IA, "because of this!" pointing to the flag pole and the opening ceremonies where veterans were carrying in the flag to be raised. "They honor our veterans."
