Council Says "Yes for "The Bar' Opening On Sundays

On the November 9th regular meeting, the La Harpe City Council approved "THE BAR" opening on Sundays during the Region 3 mitigation. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Illinois Governor has limited restrictions on all restaurants and bars in Region 3 which includes Hancock County.

Restrictions include no indoor services for bars and no indoor dining service or bar service for restaurants. These restrictions have made it very hard for these businesses to stay open or be able to make a living.

The council unanimously approved the motion which will let "THE BAR" be open on Sundays until the Region 3 restrictions are over.

The council also unanimously approved a motion to reconsider the Ramsey Financial Services insurance quote. At the previous council meeting it had been voted not to accept their quote. The insurance issue will be on the next agenda on November 23rd.

The council also approved a motion for the employees to have 6 more months from the end of the year to use their comp pay for extra hours they had.

The council also approved:

• October minutes
• Treasurer's report and paying of bills
• Contract #3 pay estimate #10 and final for Laverdiere for $49,347.80
• Contract #4 pay estimate #8 for Laverdiere for $90,652.29
• IMEG invoice for $16,468.33

The council took no action on the Tax Levy Ordinance or the Police Grant bids. Both items will be on the next agenda.
