The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
By Susan Galbraith, Special for The Quill
Jeanne Krebill's involvement in honoring veterans with homemade quilts began after she saw a Quilts of Valor brochure in a quilt shop.
She began sewing quilts in 1980 and has made over 100 quilts for family and friends, including 10 Quilts of Valor for servicemen all over the country.
Her passion is to remember those who valiantly served to protect our country and to show her appreciation for their service.
However, this story is not about Mrs. Krebill, but it's about David Galbraith and his brother, Thomas Galbraith who are two of many of our faithful and sacrificial veterans who have served our country.
Quilts of Valor began in 2003 by a quilter named Catherine Roberts when her son was deployed in Iraq.
Since that time over 300,000 quilts have been presented to those who have served in the United States military.
Today there are many groups and individuals who are piecing and quilting comfort quilts for veterans to honor their service in the military.
These veterans left their homes, their loved ones, and all they held dear, to assure that freedoms remain fully in tact for fellow Americans.
Ceremony by Jeanne Krebill:
"It is my honor and privilege to make this quilt for you, David and for you, Tom. Every time you put these quilts over yourselves, consider it a hug from a grateful nation! Thank you for your service, sacrifice, and valor, : and may God bless you!"
Jeanne labeled each individual quilt with one of the following tags:
