By: Shirley Linder, Quill Editor

At a special meeting held by the Village of Stronghurst board on Monday, May 11th, an Alcohol/Liquor special permit was approved for The Feedlot Grill and Rivals On Main.

The permit which is good from May 12 to June 30, 2020 allows the current license holder to offer for sale at retail any sealed alcoholic liquor for consumption outside the premises where such sealed alcoholic liquor is sold.

For the purposes of the Special Events Modification, the term "sealed" shall be defined as secured packaging placed on a product by the manufacturer which prevents any liquid from exiting any part of the container.

The Liquor Committee of Randy Jarvis, Jerry Nortrup, Mike Swisher and Liquor Commissioner Brendan Schaley met last Wednesday and brought to the board their recommendation of waiving the costs of liquor licenses from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

Waiving this fee pertains to the two restaurants as well as Fisher's Food Center.

After discussion of giving up this revenue for the village, the motion was made to waive the fees and passed on a 4 to 1 vote with Mike Bohnenkamp casting the "no" vote.

The board voted to approve the Appropriation Ordinance and tabled the vacant trustee position.

Present were Mayor Brendan Schaley; Trustees, Mike Bohnenkamp, Jerry Nortrup, Mike Swisher, Shane Reed, Randy Jarvis; Employees Attorney Mariah Wallace, Clerk Hollie Allen; Guests, Rob Root, Shirley Linder
