The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
Illinois State Police District 14 reported a personal injury traffic crash of a one vehicled accident Monday, March 16, in Hancock County.
Approximately at 6:46 p.m., a call was received from Hancock County Sheriff's office of an accident that occurred at E 2800th North Road just West of N 2300 East Road, Dallas City, Hancock County.
It involved a 2010 Gold KIA Forte driven by a 17 year old female from Carthage, a Junior at Illini West High School.
Three other Illini West Sophomore and Freshmen were passengers:
a 15 year old female juvenile,
a 14 year old Female, Juvenile,
a 15 year old male juvenile.
Seatbelts were used by the occupants and State Police report the cause of the accident is "Failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident," and roads were clear and dry.
The seventeen year old female was driving westbound on E 2800th North Road West of 2300 East Hancock County when she lost control and swerved to the south side of E 2800th North Road hitting the embankment and overturned landing on the driver's side.
The driver and front passenger were unharmed but one back seat passenger sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment and has been released.
The male juvenile was air-lifted due to his injuries.
Charges are pending according to the report.
