At the meeting of the West Central School Board on February 19th, the board approved a resolution to authorize the sale of two mobile classrooms on the south campus as presented.
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. with President Arnold leading the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. All board members were present at roll call. Student Representatives to the Board of Education Emijah Jones and Wesley Stewart were in attendance. Also present were Superintendent Markey, WCHS Principal Jason Kirby, WCHS Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Shane Tucker, WCMS Principal Joe Peters, WCES Principal Kathy Lafary, WCES Assistant Principal Andrea Freiden, and students Emma Keever and Laurel Beelman. Nancy Bitner, Delabar Systems Director, was present to provide information to the board regarding Career and Technical Education (CTE).

The board was presented information regarding Career and Technical Education (CTE) by Delabar System Director Nancy Bitner.
Superintendent Markey presented to the board the proposed 2020-2021 district calendar for discussion.
Superintendent Markey reminded the board of their responsibilities as Mandated Reporters.
The board discussed the possibility of establishing a WCMS Softball program.
Superintendent Markey updated the board regarding deeding a small parcel of district property in Stronghurst to the Village of Stronghurst.
The board reviewed and heard reports from the building principals; Shane Tucker, Athletic Director and Shaila Ayer, District Psychologist and Special Education Director.

The board entered closed session at 7:05 p.m. pursuant to the Illinois Open Meetings
Act to discuss the following subjects:
A. The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity.
B. Student discipline.
C. The placement of individual students in special education programs and other matters relating to individual students.
D. Superintendent Evaluation.
The board exited closed session at 7:57 p.m. and took the following action in regard to personnel:
The board was reminded that the next regularly scheduled meeting will be Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. in the West Central Elementary cafeteria.
The board adjourned their meeting at 8:04 p.m.
