ANGELA MYERS
Meet your neighbor Angela Myers of Stronghurst. She was born in Monmouth hospital, the daughter of Keith and Winifred Anderson Corzatt and grew up south of Raritan on a farm. Her grandparents are Spencer and Mary Corzatt who lived just north of Raritan, and Wilbur and Flossye Anderson, who lived north and east of Raritan.
Angela has two brothers, Bill and Ronnie. Ronnie had Muscular Dystrophy and required a lot of her mom's time. He passed away in January of 1960.
Bill helped his dad with farming and now lives in Stronghurst where you can find him walking, or riding his golf cart.
As a girl Angela was expected to help with the chores. They had milk cows, and her dad raised a lot of hogs. She also helped her mom in the garden. She loved to cook and sew as a child and her mom would let her cook whenever and whatever she wanted. "I think that is where I got my love of cooking," she said.
Angela married James Jack of Stronghurst and together they had 3 boys: David and Steven live in Stronghurst, and Brian lives in Brownsville, Texas. They raised the boys on the farm. Jim passed away with heart disease when he was 37.
Angela then went to nursing school and received her RN. She married Terry Myers in 1992. He also was a farmer and they lived south and east of Media, moving into Stronghurst in 1998.
Angela attended Raritan grade school and Media Wever High school, Southeastern Community College and received her RN and finished her BSN from Jacksonville University of Florida.
She worked for Robert Todd MD for many years in his office then at the Burlington Hospital, and later at Great River Medical Center as nurse manager in the Day Surgery and Recovery Room. Angela also was a clinical instructor with Southeastern Community College for several years, teaching nursing students.
Today she is the Administrator at the Henderson County Health Department, Gladstone.
When not working she is cooking, baking, quilting, gardening working with her flowers. She loves to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. "They keep me young and bring me great joy," she says.
Angela attends the Stronghurst Christian Church where she's one of the pianists. She says, "I always try to see the good in others and do what I can in my community.
"It has been rewarding to work at the Health Department and help the residents in Henderson County. It has been a very busy time since the Pandemic of COVID 19. Although we only had 8 residents with COVID, it took a lot of time educating and making sure they were safe and recovering. Please, remain diligent with social distancing, wear a mask when out and about, stay safe, and we can get through this pandemic together."
