The Widdom Of Barnyard Bruke: Winter is Here of Weather, Poetic Sayin's

Greetings ta ever one in western Illinois and all readers of "The Quill."

Winter is Here

Most of us in these parts have gotten our warm insulated long johns out and woolly socks ta keep from freeze'n while we take care of our animals. It sure makes us happy about the shorter days as we rush in fer some hot soup and stick our feet up by the fire.

The photo of the day January 21, 2020 is our US Marine One flying through the Swiss Alps en route ta the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Now that would be a cold balloon ride.

This week is call'n fer some more cold stuff and I'm happy about have'n a warm truck and a warm heater, even some heated seats rather than the open air tractors and before that a horse and buggy and maybe a brick and a blanket ta keep warm.

I remember my grandma have'n grandpa or us boys bring'n in some corn cobs and coal fer warmth and fer cook'n. She'd have ta go outside and get water from the old pump. Wouldn't our grandkids complain taday if we sent them out fer their bath water and drink'n water and especially ta go ta the outhouse, especially in this cold.

Well it wasn't just go'in out that was cold. We had ice on our windows and no heat upstairs. That's why three kids in a bed wasn't so bad as it kept a feller warm.

Now my wife has a microwave which heats the water but doesn't do much fer heat'n a feller up stand'n by it.

It seems we had more flat tires when we were first married years ago but now we have better tires, thanks ta racers of NASCAR and the like. They keep need'n better tires in order to win that big money and entertain the crowds and we benefit with better vehicles.

Well, the boys have changed duties from plow'n and mow'n ta scoop'n snow and break'n up ice and make'n sure the animals all have drink.

Cornelius says the only thing this ice is good fer is ice fish'n. We told him not ta be go'in to far out on that ice or he might be take'n a winter swim.

Speaking of how iced up things can get, Cornelius received the following from one of his wife's friends who is tired of the cold shoulder the Dems have been given Trump our US President.

"Americans are sick of the Swamp. The numbers prove it. By a stunning 40-percent margin, independents say impeachment is "more important to politicians than it is to me." A nearly identical number say that it's "more important to the media than it is to me."

"It's simple: Americans want results, not more partisan theater. The 2016 election should have been a wakeup call to career politicians and the Beltway establishment. Instead, they ignored the memo. They'd rather undo an election than fix their behavior.

"But no matter what manufactured drama is unfolding in Washington on a given day, there has been one constant: President Donald J. Trump has never stopped fighting for you.

"The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer," he told the American people from the Capitol steps on Inauguration Day 2017, "The time for empty talk is over. Now arrives the hour of action."

"President Trump is the one keeping his promises. On his watch, together we have:

"Created over 7 million jobs-and counting

"Achieved the lowest unemployment rate in half a century. "Lifted 2.4 million of our citizens out of poverty

"Lowered medicine prices at rates not seen since the 1960s

"Cut violent crime by nearly 5 percent since 2016

"That's just the short list. And there's much more to come.

TODAY: Desperate Democrats are demanding a do-over

White House Counsel: They want to attack one of our most sacred rights.

Well we understand her feel'ins and will consider her letter but now, the misses is call'n me fer supper.

Hope ta see ya in church,

Remember, where ever ya are, what ever ya be a do'n "BE A GOOD ONE!"

Keep on Smile'n

Catch ya later
