Wendell and Marie Fisher purchased Fisher's Food Center, formerly known as Fisher's Jack & Jill, in May of 1969. They purchased it from "Biz" Miller. Wendell worked for "Biz" at his store in La Harpe when Wendell was in high school.

Wendell and Marie married in 1955 and five years later moved their family to California where Wendell managed Purity Food Stores in Fresno and Hanford. They lived in California nine years before deciding to come back home to Illinois.

There have been many, many, many changes over the 51 years since buying this store. Their son, Jim has worked for the family business all 51 years. Their daughter, Cindy worked at the store when she was in high school.

Jim's wife, Char and children Garrett Fisher and Jaimee (Fisher) Hines still work for the family business.

Garrett's two older children, Harrison and Sloan are currently employed at the store. That makes 4 generations of Fishers who have worked there.

Currently, Bryan Hubbard is the manager and meat cutter.

There are 14 other employees at this store: Mary Ebert is in charge of produce; Susan Evans is in charge of the deli with help from Marilyn Huss; Billie Smith is scanning coordinator and Donna Lefler, Sloan Fisher, Peyton Jack, Ranita Countryman, and Nicole Morris are cashiers and bookkeepers. B.J. Garst, Jason Strack, Harrison Fisher, Victor Smith, and Nathan Wetzel stock groceries and help where ever Bryan needs them. Honestly, everyone pitches in where they are needed.

There have been hundreds of people who have worked at Fisher's Food Center in the past 51 years.

For many, it was their first job.

Fisher's Food Center supports the local schools non-profit organizations in all their fund raising efforts.

Fisher's goal is to provide quality products at fair prices, with the type of service you should be able to expect, from the people you know.

Fisher's Food Center truly appreciates this community for supporting the business.

Store hours are 7 a.m.- 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
