The damaging winds that went through West Central Iowa from Nebraska and into Illinois did most of its damage along Interstate 80. But the gust front rolled over Henderson and Hancock County, luckily only bringing some rain aftrer it quickly rolled through. This "Gust Front", according to Keith Yex, is a storm-scale or mesoscale boundary separating thunderstorm-cooled air from the surrounding air; similar in effect to a cold front, with passage marked by a wind shift and usually a drop in temperature and a related pressure jump.
