Sidewalks:A Lot of Cement, A Lot of Work

Five of the town's employees at the direction of the the Stronghurst Village board, work to replace, repair, or make new, a few sidewalks each summer. Several have been poured around the West Central Middle School in the past to make it safer for the school children.

Presently, the five workers have moved to the corner of Main and Division where they are preparing to pour a new sidewalk on the corner in front of the Jerry and Debbie Spiker home.

The recent sidewalks and crosswalks poured at the school were done through a safety grant and outside employees were hired for the job. The work there is finished according to the City Engineer.

The sidewalks were in poor condition from two huge trees on village property which were removed earlier in the Spring. Photo by Shirley Linder, Quill Editor
