The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
by Donna Pindell, The Quill
A truck pulling a planter attempted to cross the Big River Bridge over the Mississippi River to Burlington, Iowa, but unfortunately, bridge work had moved traffic into one lane, The trucker got stuck about half way across the bridge because the planter he was pulling was too wide for passage. There were no signs to let drivers know the width limit during construction.
Unhappy travelers were backed up on the Illinois side for quite a ways as you can see in this travelers picture who happened to be the first behind the planter.
The Henderson County Sheriff's office was called to turn the line of traffic around as the trucker was forced to back his planter back down the bridge to the Gulfport on-ramp so traffic could again resume across the bridge.
It was one of those upside down Mondays where you wished you had stayed in bed.
