According to information received from Village Clerk Hollie Allen, the Village of Stronghurst board practiced Social Distancing on Monday, March 13th, as they met to take care of necessary business.
All precautions were taken as Clerk Allen disinfected everything ahead of the meeting and the Mayor, four trustees, and the clerk remained as far as possible apart. There were no guests at this meeting.
The meeting opened with Brendan Schaley leading in the Pledge of Allegiance.
A candle was lit in memory of board member, David Vancil, who passed away on April 10th. Mayor Schaley thanked David for his service and spoke of some past memories in a tribute to David.
The March minutes, March 6th special meeting, along with the payment of the bills and the March financial report were approved.
Ronnie Gittings had sent in his report which included: Lee's Tree will grind stumps of the trees already cut down for $1,600 a day. The report stated he should be able to do all the trees that are already down in one day. The board approved the bid.
Police Chief Arbry Vancil had submitted his report to the board, which included:
90.5 hours worked, 7 training hours, 388 miles on the squad car, 1 traffic stop with a verbal warning, 8 service calls, 1 arrest, and 18 business courtesy checks.
The board reviewed and approved the engineering services agreement with Benton & Associates for Phase III engineering services on the Villages's 2020 Safe Routes To Schools (SRTS) project.
Better lighting in the village park will be put on next month's agenda for discussion.
