March's Meeting Canceled Aprils'

by Michael Rodeffer, The Quill

The La Harpe City Council met on March 23rd at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Hasten-Reed ask the council to only discuss urgent matters (as per the Governor's request for meetings) so all other matters were tabled until the next meeting.

Both April La Harpe Council meetings have been canceled at this time.

Because of the coronavirus situation, only council members Brian Covert, Dave Clover, and Randy Shumaker attended along with Mayor Kat Hasten-Reed, Clerk Lucretia McPeak, Treasurer Monalisa Graves, ESPA Representative Max Owsley, Water Superintendent Tim Graves, and Dan Gillett.

Council members Jerry Burford, Kelly Harkey, and Greg Wisslead were absent. Wisslead did vote on the only two motions that were made by phone.

The treasurer's report and bills were accepted and approved unanimously.

Also, the liquor licenses for Casey's, R & M Market, The Bar, and Rivals on Main were renewed by a motion which passed unanimously.

Since the April meetings have been canceled, it was decided if anything urgent were to come up, then a special meeting could be called and the public notified.
