Gary Jackson, former La Harpe resident, is now residing in Osage Beach, MO.
Gary retired from the United States Army and now keeps himself busy as a truck driver/delivery guy for 5 Rivers Transportation and also contracted to Menards.
Gary is a 1990 graduate of La Harpe High School, the son of Roger Jackson of La Harpe and Ann Carrel of DeKalb. His sister, Lori, resides in Cherry Valley, IL.
His daughter, Savannah Jackson resides in Blandinsville with her boyfriend Brittin Elliot. Gary is a proud grandpa to Laekin, who will turn 4 in September.
Gary says his best memories growing up are, from school, hanging out with friends and swing choir trips. He enjoyed sitting in the halls during lunch hour and visiting with everyone.
His most influential person he had growing up and during school, he states, were his friends. "They were always there to support me, but mostly my sister Lori. She helped me through some real rough times during high school."
After high school, Gary enlisted in the U.S. Army. Gary served many places including South Korea and numerous deployments to combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. Later in his career, he was an IT instructor stationed in Ft. Still, Oklahoma.
Upon initially joining the military, Gary says he had no intention of making a career out of it. However, after first enlisting in January, 1991 he soon became a SOLDIER for life retiring 20 years later in 2011.
In his spare time, Gary enjoys riding his motorcycle and has been on many trips that include a ride to the top of Pikes Peak, The Trail of the Dragon, New Orleans, San Antonio, Oklahoma, and Sturgis, South Dakota.
