The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
Joyce Wolf of rural Kirkwood, took "The Quill" along while visiting her daughter Julie Lung and family, cattle ranchers managing S & J Farms with black angus cattle in Carthage, North Carolina. The ladies took "The Quill" as the Deep River wanders through Piedmont plateau and curves in a horseshoe bend, to where stands on a hilltop above it, one of the first big houses of upland N.C. frontier country-"HOUSE IN THE HORSESHOE". It was built in 1772, named "Retreat" by its third owner Gov. Benjamin William, also know as the Alston House today. Its walls bear numerous scars and bullet holes from a Revolutionary War skirmish.
When you go on a trip, take "The Quill" along and have your picture taken with it, then send it to us. Let's see where all "The Quill" can travel.
