Republican Family Picnic Enjoys Good Weather-Good Food

Henderson County Republicans hosted their annual Picnic at Delabar State Park, Oquawka with a Fish and Chicken Fry, Pulled Pork and Chicken and all the trimmings for a public gathering to hear from their candidates who are in office and running for office.

Speaking at the event were candidate Esther Joy King (R) (2nd running for Congress against incumbent Cheri Bustos (D); Warren County States Attorney Andy Doyle running for Circuit Judge, Henderson County States Attorney Colby Hathaway running for re-election, and the current State Representative Randy Frese of Quincy area.

Esther Joy King is an attorney and says her life has been one of service. She grew up the daughter of missionary parents in Mexico near the border close to El Paso, Texas and supports legal immigration.

She went to the Middle East and served in humanitary efforts before going to law school taking a job in the Quad Cities.

She is running to serve. She wants to offer the people of Illinois her time and abilities to bring a more ethical and better climate for residents to live in and raise their families.

She can be contacted by email at esther@estherforcongress.com, or by phone at 309-207-4913.

Warren County States Attorney Andy Doyle who is running for Circuit Judge sees the biggest issues in the Judicial District as "Meth". He said he's found the majority of crimes are connected to its use and he feels dealers need harsher sentences. He is in a six-county race.

State Representative Randy Frese said that judges who are running need financial backing but by law they can not solicit, so if you can help, please do.

Each morning when Frese awakes he feels pretty good about the day as our representative in moving forward, but by the end of the day, it gets pretty frustrating in Springfield when you are in the minority and everything is signed by the governor. The session ended with 599 bills across his desk and all were signed into law except for eight. Seven bills were vetoed and an amendment on the eighth bill was vetoed and sent back for more work before passing. Frese said, "Say what you want to say about Reiner but we wouldn't have any of these new laws if he were here. This governor will sign anything in front of him!"

"We need to get back into the majority with good candidates. We need 4. We lost 7!.

Frese said its tough to win the popular vote and that is why the Electoral college is so important. We need to keep the policies of Donald Trump. The revenues that came in from the federal government helped out our state. Our economy is in good shape due to Trump and he has selected good Supreme Court judges. If Democrats would get on board so he could sign the U.S., Canadian-Mexican agreement it would help but can't get Congress to get behind it very well.

Frese said, "We need your help in voting Republicans in."
