Huston Promoted First Lieutenant Now A UH-60 Black Hawk Pilot

IN THE SERVICE 1ST LIEUTENANT CLAY HUSTON

La Harpe: Another La Harpe son is serving our country in the United States military and has been promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant.

Lieutenant Clay Huston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rex (Teresa) Huston of La Harpe, first enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard at the age of 17.

He went through boot camp and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in 2013, shortly after his high school graduation from Illini West High School in 2013.

After graduating from AIT, Huston attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a public research university in Illinois and the flagship institution of the University of Illinois system comprised of Urbana-Champaign (UI also known as UIUC), Chicago (UIC), and Springfield (UIS).

Huston also joined the ROTC program while at Urbana-Champaign.

After 3-1/2 years, in 2017, he graduated at the University of Illinois with double majors in Business Process Management and Information Systems.

After graduating from UIUC and ROTC, Huston was promoted to Second Lieutenant.

Now in the Army Reserves, Lieutenant Huston recently spent 14 months at Ft. Rucker, Alabama attending Flight School, graduating on August 15, 2019.

He is now rated a UH-60 Black Hawk Pilot as well as a licensed commercial pilot. He has since been promoted again to First Lieutenant.

Lieutenant Huston's unit is out of Houston, Texas, where he is currently stationed.

Many family and community members from La Harpe and hometown area, have extended their best wishes and have mentioned how proud they are of all his accomplishments and appreciative of Clay and all who serve our country.

First Lieutenant Clay Huston will be 25 at the end of September.

His parents are Rex and Teresa Huston and Clay's siblings are Bobi (Grant) James, AJ (Jamie) Huston, Ty (Rachel) Huston, Boni Huston, Tucker (Shelby) Huston, and Trace Huston.

Lieutenant Huston's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rex (Teresa) Huston of La Harpe, attended graduation ceremonies to support and congratulate their son Lieutenant Clay Huston who has advanced as a UH-60 Black Hawk pilot and a commercial pilot and was promoted to First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves.
