Customers and Stockholders of Stronghurst Grain & Merchandise Co. were treated to some tender juicy ribeye steaks and meal on Wednesday evening, Sept. 4, prior to their annual meeting. Steaks were freshly grilled by Brian Hubbard of Stronghurst, accompanied by lots of salads, side dishes, and desserts prepared and served by the American Legion Auxiliary women.
During their annual meeting, shareholders voted to retain their board of directors and heard the auditor's report from the CPA of Sikich LLC.
A net loss of ($57,740) was shown on the preliminary report compared to a $130,697 gain the year prior. It's due to a number of factors including the purchase of a used 500,000 bushel grain bin that is being erected due to the need for storage. "We're not going to be offering outside storage," Box said. He reported having 100,000 bu. now in storage when usually they have 50-60,000 bu. There's been some hitches, but the bin after completion will help increase efficiency and savings.
