Tombstone Bowl Approved As Bowling Facility

At the October 16th meeting of the West Central School Board, the board approved an agreement to use Tombstone Bowl of Monmouth, as the bowling facility for WCHS Bowling team as presented.

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.in the West Central Elementary School cafeteria by Board President Jodi Arnold.

All board members were present at roll call except Brendan Schaley. Student Representatives to the Board of Education Emijah Jones and Wesley Stewart were in attendance. Also present were Superintendent Markey, WCHS Principal Jason Kirby, WCMS Principal Joe Peters, WCES Principal Kathy Lafary, WCES Assistant Principal Andrea Freiden, Technology Director Melinda Frakes, School Psychologist and Special Education Director Shaila Ayer, Music Teachers Matt Stewart and Danna Cory, and elementary teacher Cathie Smith. Some Academic Excellence Award recipients and their families were also in attendance.

President Arnold led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Under Good News Items the following items were highlighted:

The board approved the meeting agenda as presented with no additions or deletions.

There were no comments from the public.

The board approved the Consent Agenda. Items approved under the Consent Agenda included the following:

The board discussed revisions to Board Policy 8:20 - Community Use of School Facilities.

Superintendent Markey provided information about the Triple I Conference in Chicago to those board members who have registered to attend.

The board reviewed and heard reports from the building principals as well as a Technology Report from Mrs. Frakes, a report from our District Psychologist and Special Education Director, Shaila Ayer, and an Athletic Report from Jason Kirby. The following items were noted in the reports:

The board approved the FY19 District audit report as presented. West Central C.U.S.D. #235 received a Total Profile Score of 4.00 out of 4.00 and a Financial Profile Designation of RECOGNITION. Thanked the district office staff Nancy Clark, Shelly Nelson, and Jaime Shultz and the building secretaries and administration for their outstanding work to ensure accurate record keeping.

The board approved the Architects Annual Inspection Report for District Owned Temporary Buildings as presented.

The board did not hold a closed session.

The board was reminded that the next regularly scheduled meeting will be Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the West Central Elementary cafeteria.
