The West Central football team defeated Ridgewood (5-2) last Friday night in Biggsville, 18-8.
Senior Nate Bigger's 2 yard touchdown run gave the Heat an early 6-0 lead. Freshman Kaiden Droste added 6 more on a 15 yard touchdown scamper late in the 1st quarter.
Both teams remained scoreless in the 2nd quarter and the Heat took a 12-0 lead into the break.
Ridgewood opened the half with a touchdown and a 2 point conversion to tighten things up at 12-8, but Junior linebacker Jordon Roller returned an interception to extend the Heat lead to ten, 18-8, early in the 4th quarter.
The Heat defense would hold firm for the remainder of the night and the game would end 18-8.
With the victory, West Central improves to 4-3 on the season and 2-3 in the Lincoln Trail.
The Heat will be celebrating Senior Night and hosting Annawan-Wethersfield this Friday night in Biggsville at 7:00. Senior football players, managers, cheerleaders and marching band members will be recognized.
Annawan-Wethersfield comes to town undefeated at 7-0 and ranked 3rd in class 1A.
