Squirrel Ridge Repair and Performance, owned and operated by Travis Hobby, opened in September 2014.
Ag equipment repair is Travis's specialty, but he says, "I've worked on a vast array of equipment including 4-wheelers and boats. "And," he says, "I also have a knack for 7.3 power stroke engines."
Travis graduated from the Diesel & Power Systems Technology program at Spoon River College in Canton, IL. The Diesel and Power Systems Technology program offers education and training in the ever-changing field of diesel power technology and its related applications.
Small class size and fully equipped labs allowed him the opportunity to gain quality hands-on experience. He was also exposed to a wide variety of brands of diesel equipment.
Travis took classes in Engine Systems, Starting Circuits, Tractor Overhaul, Hydraulics & Pneumatics, Transmissions, Harvesting Equipment to name a few.
Travis also gained hands-on experience at Birkey's Farm Store in Macomb where he completed an internship during his schooling.
He continued to work at Birkey's for three years gaining more experience diagnosing and repairing Ag equipment.
Shop hours are flexible as Travis is also involved in farming with his dad, Dave Hobby. Squirrel Ridge Repair and Performance is located north of La Harpe at 2975 N CO Road 3000 and can be reached at 309-255-5771.
